Boris Johnson Tests Positive for the Coronavirus

Boris Johnson, the current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), has tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus. The PM has begun self-quarantining in order to prevent the spread of the virus but we can only hope that he was not able to transmit it to the other branches of the government. Check Boris Johnson's official twitter post announcing that he was diagnosed with the Coronavirus here. He posted a video on Friday morning on Twitter saying he has a temperature and a persistent cough. “I am working from home, I’m self isolating, and that’s entirely the right thing to do,” he said. “But be in no doubt that I can continue… to communicate with all my top team and lead the national fightback against coronavirus.” Although he is in self-isolation, he will still continue to run the UK government via video conference in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

"The prime minister was tested for coronavirus on the personal advice of England's Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty," a Downing Street spokesman said. "The test was carried out in No 10 by NHS staff and the result of the test was positive," the spokesman said.

So far, 578 people in the United Kingdom have died after testing positive for coronavirus and the number of confirmed cases has risen to 11,658. The UK toll is the seventh worst in the world, after Italy, Spain, China, Iran, France and the United States (according to a Reuters tally).

In addition to this, Prince Charles, the 71 year old heir to the Throne of UK, has also tested positive for the coronavirus. He is now in Scotland self-isolating with his wife (who has tested negative for the virus). Charles is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and he is next in line for the throne.
